About
Carolyn Sternowski is Mount Mercy University’s Liturgical Music Coordinator with a primary interest in piano and the organ.
Before she joined the Hill, Carolyn worked as a public school elementary music teacher. She also served other roles such as an organist, a vocal choir director, a handbell choir director, a cantor trainer, and a director of liturgical music in five Christian denominations. Notably, she also became a member of the American Guild of Organists.
Her passion for her role as the Liturgical Music Coordinator is always ignited because she can facilitate congregational singing, provide a means and venue for people to share their talent with their community via music ministry, and can cultivate her own musical talents, which adds another layer of solemnity to her own worship and other university observances.
In addition to her work at the Hill, Carolyn teaches elementary music at Andrews Christian Academy and is an organist for First Baptist Church in Marion
